About

This is my personal website, where I share some of my work as an economist.

I started out as the typical bank economist focused on short-term macro-financial topics. More recently I moved into longer-term topics like country risk and sector analysis, mostly energy. My professional heart beats loudest for European economies including my home country Germany and my new home Denmark, that holds quite some lessons for other countries.

If you feel I can help with a chat, talk, presentation etc., feel free to reach out.

Danske medier

Lyt med her: https://sjua.dk/udviklingskonferencen-2025/#podcast

Dagbladet Børsen valgte i januar 2025 at interviewe mig om Tyskland. Det kan du læse her (kræver login): Økonom spejder mod sit hjemland: Vågn op, Tyskland

Globalisation and the International Economy

Together with Michael Hedegaard from DTU and David M. Rowe from Kenyon College, I co-authored the book Globalisation and the International Economy, that came out in July 2025.The book combines textbook-like chapters on (de-)globalisation, trade and trade barriers with guest contributions addressing a wide range of contemporary topics.

The book is intended for readers interested in the global economy and is currently used for undergraduate teaching at various institutions.

You can order the book at saxo.dk.

My job at EIFO, the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark

At EIFO, I analyse country, sector and bank risks in Europe and Central Asia. When EIFO supports an offshore wind transaction in Poland, for example, my job in the dealteam is to assess the sector risk in the Polish energy sector. When EIFO’s credit risk in a transaction is on a government, a country (sovereign) risk analysis is asked for. My job is also to assess the foreign banks we want to coperate with. I’m a proud member of the team that works on EIFO’s mandate to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The great thing about being an economist at EIFO is to contribute with economic analysis to concrete export transactions.

EIFO is Denmark’s Export Credit Agency and National Promotional Bank.
